Since I started the show back in February and even when this podcast was just a thought, I knew I wanted apart of my mission to help bridge the gap between disciplines and breeds in the industry and help us to come together as a community where we can learn from each other and grow together!
When we get started riding and start off riding a certain type of riding a lot of times we can get caught up in the bubble of that world and kind of close ourselves off to the other disciplines and breeds without even realizing it sometimes. I know I can be guilty of getting caught in the the cowhorse world at times, but it's important to remember that the way we become better riders and competitors is to keep our minds open to learning and growing in the industry. It can also help to put an end to the stereotypes about other equestrian sports if we understand more about them.
For example, If you understand the training, skill, and precision that goes into barrel racing you wouldn't only think of barrel racers as crazy.
On Today's episode, this is part of what I discussed with Lainie Deboer AQHA Professional Horsewoman along with trends in the horse show world and advice for younger generations hoping to build a successful training program of there own.
Her story is also very inspiring being such a strong role model for her daughters, but also for other women in the industry. Also, how she never intended to become a professional trainer and her experience on the ice away from horses.
I have admired Lainie, her program, and her contributions to the equine industry for many years and I love her insight into staying curious and open to new ideas to not only educate ourselves, but also to build and promote the industry for future generations.
