Growing up on a large horse ranch in Vermont, Kaci knew at an early age that becoming a trainer was what she wanted and was supposed to do. However, it wasn't until her dad brought home a grey gelding who was a reiner that she started to fall in love with the sport. What drew her to them is their athleticism and how well-mannered they are.
Having the determination to follow her dreams she found herself moving to Texas to learn from Casey Deary. She didn't care what job she was given, she just wanted to learn as much as she could. That is the kind of attitude every young person who wants to be a professional as well on day needs to learn. Is that it shouldn't matter what job you are doing as long as you are willing to learn. "Nobody else is responsible for your success."
As women in reining are often over looked and underestimated as professionals in this industry. Kaci faced some people telling her she should just do something else or just stay a non-pro, they would say this life is too hard! However, she did not let that stop her and she stayed persistent and worked hard to learn and earn the opportunities she was given.
Someone who has always respected her as a professional and treated her on the same level playing field was her husband Jack. Even when they first met he always asked for her opinion and never tried to tell her how to do things with horses. He has always been her inspiration and biggest cheerleader!
Jack never let his ego get in the way of supporting her and helping to grow a business together! Even though he is quite the accomplished horseman himself.
On today's episode, Kaci and I talk about so many other topics that are so inspiring and important to the sport of reining. From judging, running a business, and always surrounding yourself with good people who will support you and be there for the wins and the losses.
Kaci knew The Fireman aka Thiago was special from the start when Jack started training him and then when she jumped on him one day last fall, she never wanted to stop riding him! As she says in the episode, Jack never got him back after that! I don't think she is ready to stop riding him anytime soon looking ahead to 2025! I can't wait for y'all to hear the full episode!
